"To draw your own window, to crumple the paper" Anna Zvyagintseva

"The new project from Anna Zvyagintseva continues the series of works in which she transforms sketches into sculptures by changing the material and dimensions and by setting up new relationships between the space of the drawing and the real-life environment. She makes a quick drawing of her window and reproduces the lines with metal and crumples it as if it were a piece of paper. As a result, the subject of depiction is either the drawing, crumpled and thrown, rejected and failed, or the catastrophe that broke the flow of everyday life. The work reflects the impossibility for Ukrainian artists, to ignore the war in the East of the country and at the same time the lack of language to testify to it. [I spoke from myself, i don't know about all artists, of course] The work of Anna Zvyagintseva can be understood not as 'evidence of the war', but rather as 'reality contaminated by the war', and it is based on the specificity of author's experience."
